THEMABeschreibung
TEXTThe bottling of beer is an important industry in St. Louis. It is conducted on an extensive scale and represented by none so well as by the firm of Messrs. Theo. Schwer & Co., sole bottlers of the celebrated brand "Our Favorite" special brew beer, whose offices, factory, etc., are located at 709 to 715 Lynch street. This extensive business was established in 1887 by Mr. Theo. Schwer, who conducted it till August, 1890, when Mr. Ben. F. Heyl became a partner, the firm being known by the title of "Theo. Schwer & Co." The premises occupied, which are owned and were built by Mr. Schwer, comprise a three-story building, in front utilized for hotel purposes and a bottling factory in the rear. The factory is fully equipped with modern appliances and machinery, operated by a twelve horse-power steam engine. The capacity of the factory is BOO cases of beer daily, while seventeen men and three teams are employed. The firm's popular "Our Favorite" beer is brewed specially for them by the famous Anheuser-Busch Company. This beer is a pure, healthful beverage, gently tonic in its action, conducing to the strengthening of the system, creating an appetite, and is highly recommended by leading physicians. It is preferred by thousands to any other beer, and the demand for it is steadily increasing owing to its superiority and uniform excellence. The trade of the firm extends throughout all sections of St. Louis and its vicinity. Mr. Theo: Schwer was born in Germany, but has resided in St. Louis for the last ten years, while Mr. B. F. Heyl is a native of the Mound City. Those who once patronize them are sure to continue to be their customers.
