TEXT | St. Louis has large and responsible houses engaged in industries that are of an intricate and delicate nature. One of these is the manufacture of brass and bronze car trimmings, electrical supplies for motor cars, and brass and bronze work of the highest class, for all kindred purposes. This work is splendidly executed by the Central Union Brass Company, whose fine premises at Nos. 811 to 823 N. Second street, consisting of a handsome three-story and basement brick building, 130x150 feet in dimensions, offer unrivaled facilities for the successful prosecution of the industry. Their ornamental work exhibits the most artistic designing and modeling, and is wonderfully effective for the purposes required. Nothing is sent out that does not fully bear out the enviable reputation of this excellent house. Seventy skilled founders and assistants are constantly required, and the expert superintendent, Mr. Patrick Flood, exercises a careful and untiring supervision in all departments. Every appliance known to the trade is at hand, the motive force being steam, supplied by an engine of 100 horse-power, and their superb productions find their way, not only into every part Of the United States, but to Canada, Mexico, and other parts of the New World. The business is increasing rapidly every year. The company was incorporated in 1881, under the laws of Missouri, with a paid up capital of $10,000. Mr. Geo. Kingsland being the president, and Mr. Francis L. Bouquet, secretary. Mr. Kingsland is a member of the St. Louis Merchants' Exchange, and Mr. Bouquet was formerly superintendent under Messrs. Kingsland & Douglas. |
