| TEXT | One of the most progressive and reliable concerns in the city of St. Louis actively engaged in the manufacture of bottlers' supplies is that known as the Yocum & Kacer Manufacturing Company, whose office and factory are situated corner Eighth and Allen avenue. This business was established ten years ago by Messrs. Yocum & Kacer, who conducted it till 1887, when it was incorporated under the laws of Missouri with a paid-up capital of $10,000, and its trade now extends throughout the entire United States. The premises occupied have an area of 145x100 feet, on which is erected a commodious two-story brick and other buildings. The factory is equipped with special machinery and appliances operated by a fifty horse-power steam engine, while twenty-five skilled hands are constantly employed. They manufacture largely Yocum & Kacer's patent corrugated wood bottle wrappers and paper bags for bottles; also cooperage for packing, wood moulds, strips for turn bottles, etc. Their specialties are unrivalled for utility, reliability and efficiency, and have no superiors for protecting bottles in transportation. Orders are promptly filled at extremely low prices and entire satisfaction is guaranteed patrons. This firm also makes the celebrated Y. & K. ventilated patent orange boxes, weighing only eight and one-half pounds. It is stronger, more easily handled, and, as it ventilates the fruit, it prevents their moulding and keeps the fruit in better condition than the boxes which have been used previous to the invention of this box. This firm used last year over 100 carloads of logs, and will undoubtedly use over 400 carloads this year. The officers are enterprising and honorable business men who are greatly respected in trade circles. |
