THEMA | Beschreibung |
TEXT | The works were established in 1867 by Fullerton & Hollingshead, who continued to operate them until 1879, when Charles F. Hollingshead became the sole proprietor. The large, three-story brick building, one hundred by one hundred and twenty feet, is fitted throughout with improved machinery for the production of finished work in the two departments of general machinery and of iron railing. In the first department steam-engines, boilers, pulleys, shafting and mill-gearing are manufactured. In the second department all kinds of plain and ornamental iron railing and fencing, awning-frames, window-guards, lot-inclosures, fire-escapes, iron roofing; trusses, etc., are made. The machinery is driven by an engine of fifty horse-power. A large force of workmen is employed in the different departments. |
